I really thought Finn would be Barnaby, but honestly I kinda love what you did.
Especially when you consider that the buddy dynamic you'll be establishing between Bella and Jake could play into Lapis and Peridot's relationship down the line.

Actually that could be a fun storyline, for whatever reason the Gem players playing Beach City residents for a session... of course could also be a way to use the 'Cool Kids' given that several of them are already somewhat parallels to the Crystal Gems ^^
You may be reading into it just a little too much, but that does sound like an interesting idea. If I wind up using it, I will do my best to remember to credit you. If I don't, don't be afraid to remind me and I'll edit.

If anybody thought Finn was gonna be Barnaby...I'll admit I HAD considered him for Barnaby but had a hard time reconciling that nudge with Finn's more hopeful personality. So figured swap Bella and Finn's expected roles, color-wise, and see how it goes. I honestly really like it. Plus a lot less awkward when you consider Karina develops a crush on Kotetsu later.
