Well, the group I occasionally GM for (and with that I mean like once each 3 or so months) are always taking leaps of faith, because they are amateurs and really really dense players.
Between them and their dice, I have some serious trouble trying to keep them ALIVE.
I thought one of the main rules of DMing was to NOT TRY to keep them alive? I mean, don't go out of your way to kill them, but at the same time, if they do something stupid, they need to pay for it...
I can definitely imagine this as a wonderful scene in an actual tabletop group. Really good leadup and climax here.
